A man has died after being hit by a car near Harrogate, police have confirmed.
North Yorkshire Police were called to the A61 Ripon Road on Monday (November 6) around 5.50pm. It followed reports of a man being hit by a car between the junction with Knox Mill Lane.
The pedestrian, a man in his 90s, was rushed to hospital in a serious condition, but sadly later died. He had got off the bus when he was hit by a Ford Fiesta. The road was closed for several hours to allow for investigation work to take place.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “The man who was seriously injured following a collision on the A61 Ripon Road on Monday 06 November 2023 has very sadly died. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
“The collision occurred at approximately 5.50pm on Monday 06 November 2023 and involved a pedestrian and a car. Officers are continuing their enquiries and are renewing the appeal for information or dash cam footage.”
