Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has picked up North American VOD rights to teen dance drama “Break the Stage.”

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Erik V. Wolter, the pic tells the story of Tia Lewis, a troubled African-American teen at an urban Florida high school who struggles to win her father’s approval and the respect of her step team, only to discover she must confront her own faults before she can lead the team to the Nationals.

Directed by Dalas Davis, the film was produced by Dalas Davis, Brian Cline, Maximiliano Czertok, Geoff Hall, Lawrence Hoffman, and Stacy Ann Rose. Erik V. Wolter served as executive producer.

“‘Break the Stage,’ an inspirational dance drama of self-discovery, highlights the challenges of overcoming adversity,” said writer and executive producer Wolter in a statement.

“Learning to regard the well-being of others and not just oneself is really what ‘Break the Stage’ is all about” added Davis.

Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the deal to acquire “Break the Stage” directly with Davis of Fishers of Men Entertainment Media Group and Wolter at EVW Entertainment.

“Break the Stage” will be available to rent or own on all digital HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms in North America, as well as on DVD, beginning Nov. 28.
