Prominent unbeaten American heavyweight Contender Jared Anderson was arrested by Ohio authorities on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a loaded gun in his vehicle in suburban Toledo, Ohio, early Monday morning.
Toledo television station WTOL had more on the arrest, which took place in the suburban town of Oregon, Ohio, which is just to the southeast of Toledo in Lucas County.

According to the TV station, the arresting officer not only smelled alcohol on Anderson’s breath, but he also smelled marijuana coming from the car and there was an open container of an alcoholic beverage, as well. It’s not clear whether there was a passenger in the car with Anderson and a search of the vehicle found the handgun in a glove box. Anderson spent almost 8 hours in the Lucas County Jail before bonding out around noon eastern time on Monday.
The 23-year-old Toledo native, known as “the Real Big Baby” is one of the most exciting heavyweight contenders in the sport. And, he is arguably the most prominent active American heavyweight, right now, with 15 knockouts in his 16 wins to start his career.
Anderson has fought three times this year most recently in August stopping Andri Rudenko in the fifth round while headlining a Top Rank Boxing / ESPN show in Tulsa, OK.
He had also fought six weeks earlier in July in front of his home fans in Toledo with a capacity crowd cheering on his decision win over Charles Martin. Our insider Dan Rafael reached Top Rank Boxing officials Monday afternoon, who had no comment on the arrest of Anderson.
WTOL further reported that Anderson will have a court hearing on Tuesday morning, where more about the chargers will be learned.
Top rank has brought Anderson along, albeit slowly, however, he has begun to headline main event shows for them on ESPN and would seemingly be the most viable American legitimate heavyweight contender for a world title in some time.
