- Chelsea considers Todibo as a potential replacement for Thiago Silva, whose contract is expiring.
- Manchester United sees Todibo as a long-term solution due to their defensive issues.
- Both clubs aim for a winter transfer, but it’s uncertain if Todibo and Nice are open to it.
Jean-Clair Todibo is currently on the radar of Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and Manchester United. Both English giants are vying for the 23-year-old French player to bolster their defensive ranks. Todibo is currently plying his trade at Nice, having previously been part of Barcelona, where he was loaned out three times.
At just 23 years old, Todibo offers a promising opportunity to rejuvenate the aging defenses of these two clubs. Chelsea, as reported by The Sun, is eyeing Todibo as a potential replacement for Thiago Silva, whose contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire at the end of the season. With no talks of a contract extension, Thiago Silva will be leaving the club after a four-season stint.

However, securing Todibo’s services won’t be an easy task, even with Chelsea’s considerable financial resources. Manchester United is also in the race for Todibo. Given their persistent injury concerns and inconsistent center-backs, manager Erik ten Hag sees Todibo as a long-term solution who can further develop with ample playing time across Europe.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United are interested on making this move in the upcoming winter transfer window. Whether Todibo and Nice are open to a mid-season transfer remains to be seen. Nevertheless, both Manchester United and Chelsea are financially well-equipped for such a move, with Barcelona also set to receive a portion of the fee should Nice decide to sell him.
Todibo, already a part of the French national team, has made a significant impact despite his youth, accumulating 114 appearances in all competitions with the French club. Nice made a substantial investment of $10 million when they acquired the center-back, following a successful loan spell in which Todibo featured in 15 league games during the second half of the season as a 20-year-old.
In the current season, Todibo has played a pivotal role in Nice’s impressive defensive record, with the team conceding just four goals in league play. In the ten games Todibo has participated in, Nice has allowed a mere three goals. Notably, the French club is the only unbeaten team in Ligue 1 and currently leads the league table after 11 games.
